Alexa Giardino, LMSW, CTP, 200 RYT is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Trauma Professional and registered 200-hour yoga teacher. As a social work clinician Alexa provides trauma-informed, strength- based, mindfulness based, person-centered, culturally competent counseling. She is a beginning level Somatic Experiencing (SE) student, and offers, a body- based therapeutic intervention to heal trauma. Alexa has experience working with children, adolescents, adults, couples, families, and groups within various Mental Health settings.

Alexa believes in utilizing a collaborative approach, one in which the individual is the expert on their own life, and empowering individuals to be an active participant in improving their well-being. Alexa works with individuals to recognize thoughts, patterns, and behaviors that get in the way of becoming their best selves, as well as, embracing their strengths and resilience. She works with individuals in examining how their environment and societal barriers, including, race, culture, gender and class, impact their well-being.

Alexa is passionate about working with trauma survivors and inviting them to find their way to healing, guiding individuals to learn ways to manage and work with their symptoms rather than avoid, fear, or hide them. Alexa provides individuals with psycho education along the way, to help them understand their symptoms impact on their mind, bodies, and soul.

Alexa is certified to lead individuals in vinyasa, hatha, yin and kundalini yoga. She enjoys leading individuals of all levels of abilities in gentle and slow flows that allow students to find stability and ease in postures, while feeling comfortable and safe in their bodies. She guides and encourages individuals in building a connection between their mind, body, and breath through the use of meditation and breath work practices as part of her classes.

Blending her understanding of mental health and love of yoga, Alexa believes yoga is a way for individuals to improve their whole body, mind, and spiritual health. She hopes to provide individuals with a deeper understanding of themselves and their bodies, all while easing and releasing the physical and mental pain they carry. She creates a welcoming, safe, fun, and explorative environment for all those who join her. Alexa is grateful to learn from the individuals she works with and encourages individuals to explore and find what feels good in their bodies and carry the lessons learned on the mat with them into their lives.

Off the mat and outside of her clinical practice, Alexa enjoys nature, walks, and hikes alongside her dog, Clover- who makes occasionally guest appearances in office and online. She enjoys reading, writing, learning, baking, and, of course, spending time resting watching a good TV show. Alexa hopes to connect with you soon!
