Sarah Mountz, LMSW, PhD, 200-RYT is a licensed master of social work, a certified yoga instructor, and a professor of social work at University at Albany School of Social Welfare.

Sarah’s approach to therapy is holistic, intersectional, and trauma informed. She believes everyone possesses intrinsic wisdom about what they need for their own healing and loves collaborating with people to identify and draw forth this wisdom. She is committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where individuals can explore their inner landscapes, identify the impact of societal structures and systems of oppression upon their lives, and author empowering narratives about who they are.

Sarah is trained in a variety of treatment modalities including Narrative Therapy, Trauma Systems Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. She uses an integrative approach tailored to the desires and needs of each individual. When appropriate and desired, she enjoys integrating yoga and mindfulness into her practice as a means of strengthening the mind-body-spirit connection and facilitating embodied healing and nervous system regulation.

Although she enjoys working with a variety of people, Sarah has extensive experience working with LGBTQIA+ folx,  adolescents and young adults, trauma survivors,  individuals who have experienced incarceration and their family members, and people whose lives have been impacted by foster care or adoption, including all members of the adoption triad.
